Description:

The APL Limited Sr. Account Manager will manage an assigned sales geography with revenue scope of $25 million and 7000 FEU. The goal to grow business primarily through external contact is required. Territories will consist of 50-60 medium-to-high margin accounts, which require a medium level, sophisticated, consultative type sell. The emphasis will be on high value, relationship-oriented accounts with low to moderate complexity. Candidates should be skilled in international sales, negotiating, selling techniques, delivering presentations and supply chain logistics. Position will be heavily weighted on growing new business.

Accountabilities:

60% Sales Budget- meet specified territory budget plan by developing sales call plans and call specific objectives and materials; conducting sales calls with accounts, following up on commitments and issues that arise during sales calls.

25% Business Development- includes strategy for increasing business with each account in the sales territory, target account budget, goals and tactics, and management of sales leads.

5% Communication- includes (1) continuous intelligence gathering from accounts and other sources to identify actions by accounts or competitors that could mean a threat or opportunity for APL, overall or for a specific market (s); and (2) ensuring prompt forwarding of the information to all pertinent individuals in the APL organization.

5% Administration- includes timely and accurate update to sales databases on account specific activity, names, addresses, key contacts, phone and fax numbers for all accounts in the assigned sales territory.

5% Team Selling- includes coordinating selling activity, and conducting joint calls and presentations for accounts that have decision makers in multiple regions and/or markets.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

5 + years APL/Industry Experience

* 3 + years sales experience
* College degree preferred
* Demonstrated experience in creating and implementing sales tactical plans
* Demonstrated understanding of sales-related information technology and its applications
* Demonstrated understanding of rate construction methodologies
* PC literacy
* Must possess a valid drivers license
