POSITION:  Dean, School of Education for Campbell University

DEPARTMENT:  School of Education

STATUS:  Full Time


Campbell University seeks a strategic, forward-looking leader to serve as its next Dean of the School of Education (SOE), which encompasses a diverse set of programs and is poised for a new era of growth and development. Campbell University is a robust university that prepares professionals in a wide range of fields to serve North Carolina, the region and a larger world, in keeping with its Christian mission.  Campbell's School of Education currently offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees in person and online in the fields of education, social work, psychololgy, and counseling.  The SOE educates one-third of the teachers in Harnett County, NC and, similar to Campbell's other schools, plays a pivotal role in supplying needed professionals to the stae of North Carolina as a whole, and its rural communities in particular.


The new Dean will be expected to priortize the overall health of the School and the continued development of the talented faculty and students in all of its programs. S/he will have the opprutunity to consider areas of potential programmatic growth or reorganization for the School and in particular, will be encouraged to collaborate closely with Campbell's faculty and administrators in the School of Medicine, Law, Arts & Sciences, Nursing, and Adult and Online Education, among others. While the Dean must maintain the School's current strong and healthy connnections with state school officials and policy , s/he will also be encouraged to think boldly and creatively, in collaboration with colleagues, about the Schools exciting potential for the future.


 The Dean will hold a doctoral degree in a relevant field (e.g., education, social work, psychology, or counseling among others) and have a record of adademic and administrative accomplishments sufficient to be appointable as a Full Professor at Campbell University. Additionally s/he will be expected to have a familiarity at a high level with accreditation requirements and ongoing program assessment across multiple fields.  This position shall display an accessible and visible approach to leadership, a readiness to listen to students, faculty, and staff within the school, the willingness to serve as a persuasive and effective champion of the School, and a willingness to support Campbells mission of preparing students for purposeful lives and meaningful service.
