The Thermal Acoustical Solutions segment offers a full line of innovative engineered products to assist in noise and heat abatement within the automotive and industrial markets. The business manufactures acoustical damping and thermal insulating solutions comprised of fiber and metal based composite product constructions. These products are typically found in the interior (dash insulators), underbody (wheel well, fuel tank, exhaust) and under hood (engine compartment) of passenger vehicles, heavy duty trucks, recreational vehicles as well as in other industrial applications. The segment employs approximately ~1300 employees with operations in the U.S., Germany, France and China.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for Safety of employees, 6s, meeting daily production requirements and on-time shipping of high quality product that meet customer expectations, while continuously improving manufacturing operations. Directly supervises team leaders, production associates, die set-up, and Material Handlers, Quality and Maintenance on the backshift (in cooperation with the FFMs and their primary day shift leaders).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with FFMs to ensure daily line staffing is sufficient to meet production and deliver requirements.
  • Reviews schedule and order requirements for each production line. Communicates withFFM prior and later shift Leads on schedule/order status as well as known priorities. Notifies Plant Manager and FFM of unplanned downtime, excessive scrap or risk of not meeting schedule/order requirements per downtime escalation procedure.
  • Review line performance (safety, productivity, scrap, customer concerns, 6S) and develop RCCA countermeasures for off-target performance. Follow-up on associates needs and concerns.
  • Deliver Shift Communications to Team as Required.
  • Handles and communicates Safety Issues per procedure.
  • Monitors hourly performance for each production line. Coordinates with Team Leader and other support function as needed to immediately correct off-target line performance.
  • Functional knowledge of shop floor and order management systems, both ERP (Oracle) and visual management.
  • Ensures compliance to visual management controls. Hour-by-hour performance tracking, KANBAN pull systems, Line OEE, scrap trends and improvement actions, downtime tracking and improvement actions, 6S audits trend and improvement actions.
  • Ensure employee compliance to part and process operating standards and standards work requirements. Immediately corrects non-conformance to procedure and issues identified Layered Process Audits (LPA).
  • Insures compliance to all rules, regulations and policies. Immediately documents, communicates and corrects violations or unsafe conditions; treats all direct reports equally with respect and compassion.

Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required for Consideration as a Candidate:

  • Associates degree and/or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years prior supervisory or team leadership responsibility in  a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of an ERP system (Oracle)
  • Above average inter-personal, communication and organizations skills.
  • Must have participated in Kaizen (minimum of 8-hr Lean Training)
  • Strong planning skills and the ability to direct and lead by example.
  • Self-directed and motivated to achieve manufacturing excellence in assigned area – drive for results
  • Personal ownership and accountability for Safety, Quality and Production performance.
  • Ability to interpret data and clearly present conclusions and improvement actions that are needed.

Additional Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Knowledgeable in ISO/TS/IATF 16949:2016, ISO14001, and OSHA requirements
  • First Aid / First Responder Training.
  • Previous Lean Experience
