Lead Material Handler

Charlotte, North Carolina

This Is What You’ll Do:

  • In compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), this position is responsible for the receipt, storage, and distribution of collected plasma products at the Charlotte warehouse and processing facility.
  • Operates robotic processing equipment to depalletize, sort, and repalletize cases of frozen plasma.
  • Operates automated storage/retrieval crane and pallet conveyors to store, move, and retrieve pallets of frozen plasma.
  • Receives, sorts, stacks, and stores inbound shipments of frozen plasma from donor centers.
  • Prepares, stages, and loads outbound loads for international and domestic shipments.
  • In the absence of warehouse management, leads material handler staff to prioritize and complete routine activities including receiving, sorting, consolidating, and shipping plasma.
  • Navigates warehouse management system (WMS) to receive, modify, ship, and discard plasma.
  • Investigates and troubleshoots to resolve inbound/outbound plasma shipment discrepancies.
  • Safely operates in working environments that are temperature controlled below room temperature.
  • Safely and responsibly uses all material handling equipment (forklifts and pallet jacks), conveyors, and robotic processing equipment.
  • Maintains clean work environment. Follow all FDA, OSHA and OPI policies and procedures, as instructed.
  • Receives and distributes shipments of laboratory and office supplies to the appropriate designated areas, to include the areas of the laboratory, dry materials warehouse, IT, administrative areas, etc.
  • Performs other duties and tasks, as directed by Supervisor.

  • Excellent attention to detail

This Is What It Takes:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of six months’ experience in a warehouse or plasma center environment required, (two or more years of experience is preferred).
  • Forklift certification is preferred.
  • Must be able to perform basic math calculations and be proficient in the English language.
  • Ability to work intermittently in freezer conditions while wearing protective clothing.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift, tug, pull up to forty (40) pounds.
  • Ability to manage product in excess of forty (40) pounds utilizing available safety tools.
  • Ability to physically operate a computer keyboard, calculator and desktop computer.
  • Ability to safely operate typical material handling equipment (forklifts, turret trucks, pallet jacks, etc).
